Versatile Rack for limited spaces I needed a rack for my home office but didn't have the space for a full 42U height rack. I looked at serveral options but this one stood out for its adjustable depth, optional casters and TrippLite's reputation for quality. This rack certainly did not disappoint us in any way. It was easy to assemble, easy to adjust to the depth we wanted and most important was easy to move even when loaded. We keep it in a corner due to space concerns so the ability to easily pull it forward to get to the back of the servers was very important for us. All our equipment went in easily and the rack was adjusted to the depth of our longest server. This rack with servers and all network equipment is about the same depth as a 25" desk so it flows well with the rest of the office. The clearly printed U numbers on the front and back made it really easy to line equipment. There are plenty of cage nuts included as well but most of our equipment rails just snapped in. Did I mention how overbuilt this thing is. The nuts and bolts are huge! There is no wobble and I am sure it could easily handle much more than the rated weight. We are very happy with this rack and when we expand we are definitely going with another one of these. February 2, 2015
Frame holds weight well. make sure to secure it to the floor or where ever you have it. quick set up and easy deploy. September 14, 2014
Great open frame rack that holds whatever we need and is great to work with. I would recommend to anyone. September 14, 2014
Works well, and the smaller versions are just as reliable. Use them in our closets on each floor for Cisco switches. September 14, 2014

Answer:
SRCASTER is the model number for a kit with 4 casters. The information on the website says these will allow any of their 4 post open frame racks to become mobile.

Answer:
It is free-standing and very solid. I don't have mine bolted to the floor and it is very solid. I actually added the casters to mine and it is still very solid even though mine is loaded up with equipment.

The only concern would be if your floors are not solid and will not be able to handle the weight of a fully loaded 1000lbs capable rack.

Answer:
The SR4POST25 is a free standing 4 post open frame rack however if there's a concern about it not being secure there is a bolt down kit for this rack.

For the bolt down kit lead with SRBOLTDOWN:
http://www.tripplite.com/sku/SRBOLTDOWN/

This kit will enable SmartRack products to be secured to a concrete floor and provides extreme stabilization and security for cabinets and racks.

adding to an sr4post25

If I need to connect a sr4post25 to an existing one do I buy another one or is there a version made specifically for this purpose. I was thinking maybe the side depth pieces were not needed on both units when connected together.

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in our Rack Solutions line of products. Please note that multiple SR4POST25 units can be bolted together side-by-side by simply threading user-supplied 3/8-16 bolt/nut/washers, through each adjoining rack's "button hole" cut-outs.

This rack does not have a roof option. However our SR25UB has a roof and side panels--here's a link:

Another option to consider if you currently have the unit and in a pinch, is placing a heavy duty fixed shelf toward the top of the rack. Not the most attractive option but it will do the trick--here's the link on the SRSHELF4PHD:
