We use Tripp Lite UPS units as an economical alternative to APC products. They are extremely reliable and battery replacement is very easy. I've never had one fail when the power went out. November 19, 2014
good and bad Has been doing a good job. Dislike that you can't turn it on without it making the harsh warning sound. Power went out the other night and so did the computer system, so I guess the internal battery has failed which is pretty typical no matter what brand I've used. October 1, 2014
Solid, working UPS Having watched more than a couple power outages shut everything else down, it was great having a little more time to also shut down my PC and monitor. After several outages through which the Internet 550U protected my gear, I'm a believer and this is all the backup needed. October 1, 2014
Failed after less than a month I originally had a Belkin UPS that lasted for years, far beyond it's warranty. Then I went to my local Electronics store and all they had was TrippLite UPS. I bought it and it died a month after it's warranty expired. Went and got another, and it died in less than a month. Returned it and got a APC. Works just fine. We'll see how long it lasts. Can't honestly recommend TrippLite. October 1, 2014

Internet Office 550U beeping

My 550U unit suddenly started beeping. The green light was on.

I turned the unit off and on several times and now it no longer beeps. Searching the manual I found nothing to explain the beeping?

What does this mean? Is the unit defective?

Thanks,

Chip

Answer:
Thanks for your query. A green light followed by 4 successive beeps indicates that the unit was operating from its internal batteries (see Page 3 Sec. 2). This is normal operaton whenever the unit goes into an inverter mode in order to support connected loads.

If the power goes off in the middle of the night, the beeper acts as an unwanted alarm clock. Disabling the alarm would be very helpful.

I have several Internet 550U that do not have the RJxx protection and I am assuming they are an older version. However they do have batteries that can be removed and replaced. What are those battery part number?
