Digital Signage

Challenges & Trends

Typical Environment

  • Connect audio/video signals from one or more sources (such as computers or media players) to one or multiple displays (such as digital signs, projectors or monitors)
  • Deliver content to remote displays, in some cases up to 1,000 ft. away
  • Quickly and easily update content and vary messages based on time, location, audience and other factors
  • Used in retail stores, malls, restaurants, hotels, classrooms, airports, houses of worship, hospitals, emergency call centers

Transmission Distance: Audio/video signals have a limited range – especially digital signals like DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort. This is an important consideration because many digital signage applications require signals to be delivered over long distances without losing picture or sound quality.

Multiple Displays: As the cost of display technology continues to drop, digital signage installations are incorporating more display screens with a corresponding increase in complexity.

Customized Messages: Unlike printed signs, digital signs can be easily updated as content and audience needs change.
