Overview

With 12,000BTU of cooling power, the 120V, 60 Hz SRCOOL12K is ideal for use in data centers, server and wiring closets, IT environments, home and small business offices, conference rooms, warehouses, entertainment centers or other venues with heat-sensitive equipment, particularly in areas that facility air conditioning can't reach. The SRCOOL12K not only adjusts ambient room temperatures, but can also dehumidify and filter the air, providing better air quality for enhanced equipment performance with minimal noise and power consumption. The SRCOOL12K has a built-in evaporator that expels the condensed water through the exhaust duct, so there is no need for a drain tube, drain pan or water collection tank. Both a standard louvered vent (for general room cooling) and a directional ducted cooling vent (to direct cold air where most needed) are provided. A directional exhaust duct safely removes hot air from the room. SRCOOL12K comes equipped with an auto-restart feature that retains all system settings and returns the unit back to its last operational state after AC power is restored. A built-in timer enables the unit to be programmed for unattended start-up and shutdown. Controls and displays are conveniently mounted on the top panel. With the optional added accessory of the SRCOOLNET (available mid Q-3) this communication port allows users to monitor temperatures, receive alerts, review logs and control settings from any location. Designed for quick and simple installation, the SRCOOL12K rolls into place on built-in casters and plugs into a standard 5-15R outlet with no adapter required. An included window/drop ceiling kit provides multiple installation options. The SRCOOL12K uses environmentally friendly R410a refrigerant, which complies with EPA standards for 2010 and beyond, and is accepted worldwide. It contains zero, ozone depleting R22 refrigerant that has been banned by the EPA for new equipment manufactured after January 1, 2010.

Brrrrr Dogs Cold I have a Server room in an old building and it is in the interior of the floor so no windows or any way to vent the heat. This device has a vent system that lets you vent through a drop ceiling. We installed it in a 300 sq ft server room with 4 servers and 5 workstations running 24/7 and the room is at a constant 65 measured at the server rack! June 14, 2013
Just installed this unit about a week ago. Beyond pleased with the results. I was a bit worried about the performance for the price. Really though, if you're in the market for an A/C unit, I would seriously look into this unit. Not having the run a water line to drain made the installation quick and easy. April 25, 2013
Great Product Easy setup! Works great to cool our server room. Highly recommended. March 5, 2013
Perfect!!! This is a perfect unit for cooling a small server room. Had it up and running within 20 minutes of receiving. Very easy setup, very efficient unit, and the room is cool. Would recommend to anyone. March 4, 2013

Answer:
Just received the SR1200 today. It will be replacing another brand portable unit that is about 5+ years old. Although I have not installed the exhaust to the drop ceiling, I did run it for a few minutes. The other brand is a lot louder even though the other brand has around 700BTU and the air flow is less than SR1200 set on low. With the SR1200 set on cool, compressor on and fan on high I would compare it to a 12" oscillating fan set on medium. I would compare the other brand we have as a 16" oscillating fan on high.

Answer:
Thanks for your query. Please note that there are actually no moving parts in our evaporator system. Instead, water is collected off the evaporator coil, and gathered in a shallow drip pan at the bottom of the unit. Once the water level reaches a certain level (approx. 5/8" deep) it triggers a float switch. The switch in turn activates a tiny pump carrying water from the lower drip pan to the top of the hot condenser coil. The water is then allowed to run down the hot condenser coil, evaporating as the exhaust air flows through it. The evaporated water is simply expelled from the unit via the unit's exhaust air tube and included drop-ceiling vent kit. Therefore, there are no evaporator parts to replace, and no drip try to empty!

I am interested in using this product in an environment with a lower voltage electrical system. The unit will be run through an inverter. Therefore, I am very interested in current requirements for startup and continuous use. For example, what is the peak startup amp draw and the typical run-time amps? Also, after the unit starts, does the typical run-time amps vary when the cooling load is less (after the thermostat temp has been achieved) or is the unit itself always either off or fully on, running at full amp draw? Finally, can the unit be set to run on fewer amps but produce lower BTU output?

Also, can the unit be set such that the fan continues to run when the target temperature is reached and the compressor shuts off?

We appreciate your interest in TrippLite. Please note that with the SRCOOL12K set to COOL MODE and Fan Speed set to HIGH: The Maximum momentary "Peak" current at Thermostat Cycle-On (w/ condenser & fan running) = 54A (<0.2 secs); The "Running" current ~ 9A (1100W); The "Quiescent" current at Thermostat Cycle-Off (w/ condenser and fan off) ~1.6A (180W-200W). After the target temp is reached, you're able to continue fan operation by manually selecting the FAN MODE.Thanks for the opportunity to talk with you.
