Tripp Lite's APS3636VR DC-to-AC inverter with automatic line-to-battery transfer and integrated charging system serves as an extended run UPS, a standalone power source or a truck/RV/Industrial inverter. Supplies up to 3600 watts of continuous 120V AC power from any 36V battery. OverPower inverter output feature temporarily provides up to 150% of the continuous output for 1-60 minutes and DoubleBoost inverter output feature delivers up to 200% of the continuous output for up to 10 seconds, providing the extra power needed to cold start heavy-duty tools and motorized equipment. When hardwire AC input is energized, commercial power passes through to connected equipment and the battery set is recharged via 3 stage, 30 amp charging system. In UPS mode, the APS system responds to blackouts and severe voltage fluctuations with a near instantaneous automatic transfer to battery-derived AC output. Includes a set of high current DC input terminals for simple installation (user supplies batteries and cabling - see owner's manual for recommendations). Passes sine wave utilty or generator power during battery charging and UPS line power operation, plus efficient PWM sine wave AC output in inverter and UPS backup modes. Built-in Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects line power AC brownouts and overvoltages without using battery power during battery charging and UPS standby modes. Reliable large transformer design, with frequency control powers resistive electronic loads or large inductive motors, compressors and other items with high current needs on startup. Included APSRM4 wired remote power switch with full status LEDs provides remote power inverter on/off switching and continuous status information. Supports an unlimited amount of runtime with any number of user-supplied batteries connected. Highly adaptable to a variety of applications and site conditions with adjustable charger settings for wet/gel battery types and selectable line to battery power transfer voltages.

NOTE: To protect against high current draw that may occur during inverter failure, a fuse link rated at 300a should be positioned no more than 18" from the APS3636VR's battery in the positive line.

it is very strong when i need this kind of verter i went to the market and look for these kind of it verter from many of shops , when i saw your product i ask about it ,they give me a lot of Characteristics , i was impressed by my brother and I asked where he was an electronic engineer and impressed by the specifications and advised me in your equipment. I asked also an electrical engineer who works for the institution that I work with and advised me your equipment because my foundation used the same kind yours. I live in the Republic of Yemen in Sana'a city and work in the Social Fund for Development and since our city is under power outages always The Fund uses the devices to store electricity, as well as most of the houses, and since I lived in my new house you need to stockist of electricity so I can take advantage of the electricity in case of interruption December 26, 2013
excellent product I use an APS3636VR with 3 AGM deep cycle batteries to provide backup power for our house in the Bahamas. The inverter powers our water pump, refrigerator, coffee pot, lights in the living areas and fans. It switches automatically when the city power fails, takes care of the recharging of the batteries in a trouble free way. The only problem I have had is that it will not drive the long internet cable supplied with the remote control unit. When I use a short (3 ft) cable it works well. December 8, 2011

ground fault

In the instructions for my 3636APS it says not to use a power strip with a ground fault detector. If I am powering a hardwired system in my house, can I use ground fault wall sockets?

Does the APS3636VR switch the neutral line as well as the hot line when going from city power to back-up battery power since backed-up devices need both hot and neutral?

Thank you for your inquiry. The answer is yes. Both the Hot and Neutral pass through when utility power is connected.
When utility power is not connected, and the inverter is operating on battery, the neutral and ground of the output are bonded together in the unit. It would be unsafe, to keep the “city Neutral” connected, when operating in invert mode.

When APS3636VR is used in a vehicle but is not connected to the vehicle's batteries (but is connected to three 12 volt batteries for powering tools/appliances), what is the proper grounding for the batteries and/or the APS3636VR itself? Diagrams 4-to-6 (Owner's manual) do not specify grounding (but diagrams 7 and 8 do--to the vehicle's electrical ground). Is it correct that, for the configurations in diagrams 4-to-6, neither the batteries nor the casing of APS3636VR should be connected to the vehicle's electrical ground?

Answer: 
Diagrams 4-6 are using the batteries as the circuit ground. There is an optional ground lug on the back of the unit that can be used. Diagrams 7-8 use the vehicle’s electrical ground because the alternator is being used to charge the batteries.

The AC input current is shown as 20 amps in specifications. Does that mean the unit must be plugged into a 20 amp circuit, or can it still charge from a 15 amp circuit as the input source?

You can connect an APS3636VR to a 15amp circuit, but it will reduce the load rating of the inverter charger. You will not be able to use the unit to it’s full load capacity.
