Works perfectly I got this thing about a year ago, and I have 3 computers plugged into it. It still gives around 30 minutes of runtime, and I've never had any issues with it. November 9, 2014
Performs as promised I have had no issues with my Smart 1500. I plugged it in, plugged in my computer and other devices (it is nice having so many outlets), and turned it on. I have had a power outage since then, and it performed perfectly. I am very pleased with this purchase. October 19, 2014
Great Backup for the money I got this UPS because the battery on my old APC unit was dying. In looking at replacement batteries I took a look at replacement units. I found this unit which is is perfect to replace both of my old APC units for a very reasonable price. I installed it and it has a great run time for my equipment. I will likely be able to ride out the next time there is a power outage without even having to shut down. I love the LCD readout that give me lots of info at a glance. October 13, 2014
RE/Smart LCD 1500VA This Battery backup works great, I never new how many power surges we actually have till I hooked this unit up. I live in central Florida and the reason I bought the Tripp-Lite is my two year old HP PC blew up. My tech told me it was from power surges, so I bought two one for my computer room and one for the living room for TV cable box stereo dvr and all other electronic stuff. Its amazing how the dvr box does not shut down every day and the dreaded 30 minute wait for reboot. These battery backups are worth there weight in gold. October 5, 2014

I will say I am not 100% positive, but I believe it does not. It give you conditioned power but it is not coming from the battery. The LCD can show you incoming and out going voltage.

Answer:
The Smart1500LCDT is a line interactive UPS system.

In a line interactive UPS system the power processing components are in an inactive state until called upon. When they are called upon there's a 2-4 ms switch time between utility power and battery.

If looking for a UPS system that runs from battery all the time, you would be looking for a true online, double conversion UPS system.

As systems like this are always running off the battery they provide zero transfer time, noise and distortion free output, and superior voltage and frequency regulation.

We have a large variety of UPS systems like this in the Tripp Lite offering. For additional info on what product would be the right fit, please contact our presales applications team at 773-869-1773 or presaleshelp@tripplite.com

Since I'd be using this item in a recording studio, quiescence is paramount. If the fan is off when live voltage is applied, that would be perfect. However, if the fan is always on, that would present a challenge for us.

Answer:
Mine seems to run the fan whenever it is on battery or using AVR. The fan stops when the incoming power is normal. Note, however, that I have a very light load on mine (100-200W), and it may behave differently at heavier loads.

Answer:
In the case of any UPS system that has a fan, there's a high probability that the fan will run continuously.

If noise is an issue an enclosure (and usually a non sound proof one will do the trick) is suggested.

input issue

Will my smart 1500LCDT be damaged if connected to 220V input and how can I plug in devices that are designed to work in 220V into it

Answers

Answer:
The SMART1500LCDT is a 120V-only model, and will possibly be damaged if connected to a 220V input.

If you are needing to use 220V devices, but only have 120V outlets, check if the device you are wanting to use has a voltage selector switch to allow it to be used at the lower voltage, or if it is a "full range" device, meaning it works equally well on either with no adjustments necessary (the Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT is NOT full range).

If you need a 220V UPS, Tripp Lite does make some, such as the AVRX550U.

Answer:
The Smart1500LCDT will support 120 vac input and output and will not work with 220 vac or any other high voltages.

In order to support 220 vac input and output an international UPS system is required.

Answer:
The LCD display can not be turned off on the UPS systems with the LCD feature.

However as the LCD provides detailed UPS status and site power information, it's probably best it can't be turned off as the UPS status and power information in important in knowing if the UPS system system is doing what it's supposed to.

If the LCD option is not needed, please know we have other UPS products that may work for your application.

For additional information on these systems please reach out to our presales applications team at 773-869-1234 option 1 or presaleshelp@tripplite.com.
