This product gives peace of mind during storms Bought this surge protector for protection during thunderstorms. Installs very easily inline and so far no problems September 9, 2013
Easy to connect and gain peace of mind When lightning nearby sent transients in my phone service connection it burnt out some equipment, including a multifunction printer through its fax connection. I purchased DTEL2 to block this problem at the building service entrance. It was easy to connect. I've had plenty of lightning but no equipment losses since. September 5, 2013

DTEL2

We have 2 digital phone lines. We want to use this in connection with our sound system and Telephone Patch Unit to broadcast the program to our shut ins. Would we just need one DTEL2 to care for both phone lines.

Here's the owner's manual on all of the Datashield surge suppressors:

http://www.tripplite.com/shared/techdoc/Owners-Manual/932858.pdf

The response time of all of them including the DTEL2, is less than one picosecond.

Since we are already wired as two separate line would two DTEL2 devices be the best way to protect our two lines without rewiring?
It appears in the illustration in the manual that just 4 lines are protected thru just one Rj11 Jack.

Answer:
The DTEL2 protects up to 2 network or phone lines, modems, fax machines and answering machines.

However if you have the lines wired as two separate lines, 2 DTEL2 products would be the best way to proceed.

Remote access

I quite often remote into my home network and I've currently got a Tripp Lite DNET1 Network In-Line Dataline Surge Protector, and I cannot get into my network now with this one in place. I believe that I've got a digital network not a standard one like the DNET1 protects. If I install the Tripp Lite DTEL2 in place of the DNET1 will it now allow me to remote into my home network?

The product that would be best for the application is the DSUT1CSU:
http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtSeriesID=827&txtModelID=153

This inline RJ11/45/45 surge suppressor is ideal for sensitive "U" and "S/T" interfaces on modems, NT1 devices, CSU/DSUs, terminal adapters and other pieces of high-speed equipment.

I recently had a lightning strike that fried my ADT alarm system control panel. The panel is hard wired into my phone line. I would like to cut the wires, and install 2 RJ-11 connectors at the cut, and install a surge protector inline. ADT does not install surge protectors (They just want to sell you a new, expensive, panel)
