PowerVerter® 1800W Compact Inverter with 4 Outlets

Model Number: PV1800HF

  • 12V DC input; 120V AC output; 4 outlets
  • 1800 watts continuous output
  • 3600 watts peak output (instantaneous)
  • Powers an entire mobile office

Utilize your vehicle's battery to efficiently power office equipment on the road or power tools at a work site. Continuously supplies up to 1800 watts of 120V AC power to 4 AC outlets from any 12V battery or automotive DC source. Includes a set of nut-and-bolt style DC terminals for simple installation. Compact, lightweight metal case design is among the smallest, most rugged inverters available at this power level.

NOTE: To protect against high current draw that may occur during inverter failure, a fuse link rated at 250a should be positioned no more than 18" from the PV1800HF's battery in the positive line.

Key Features

  • Allows users to run AC appliances from a properly sized 12V battery or automotive DC system
  • Converts 12V DC battery power to 120V AC power
  • 1800 watts continuous output power; 3600 watts peak output power (instantaneous)
  • 4 outlets
  • Compact, lightweight design with grooved surface for efficient cooling, all-metal housing
  • Diagnostic LEDs indicates low battery voltage level and load level
  • Low battery alarm with auto-shutoff prevents deep battery discharge
  • High-efficiency operation conserves batteries to prolong run time
  • Cooling fan regulates internal temperature and prolongs unit service life

Typical Applications

  • Ideal for powering microwave ovens, dishwashers, coffee makers, refrigerators, electric grills, clothes irons, televisions, video game systems, stereos, small window air conditioners, sump pumps, flood lights and small- to medium-sized power tools like drills, disc sanders and chain saws

NOTE: Your load should not exceed your inverter's maximum continuous output power of 1800 watts. To determine your total load, add the wattage ratings of all equipment you will connect to your inverter. Wattage ratings are usually listed in equipment manuals or on nameplates. If your equipment is rated in amps, multiply that number times AC utility voltage to estimate watts. (Example: a drill requires 2.5 amps. 2.5 amps × 120 volts = 300 watts.)

Works Great Bought this unit 2 years ago for a six week road trip to Alaska. Used it to power a small freezer for ice, frozen meats and food, and to preserve the fish we caught in Ak. Made coffee in drip coffee maker every day and powered microwave and lights in camper. Kept laptop charged plus camera batteries, etc.. Worked great no issues. Now I use it as a mobile power supply in my pickup and as an AC back up if needed. Should have bought one years ago. September 8, 2013
Tripp is the best of the best This inverter is built as if I built it myself. DOD 2000 certified customer. I will be using this unit to power my home now that I'm retired. September 6, 2013
GET THIS TODAY! Very reliable, sturdy structured device, it wont let you down, and the longevity is unreal, great buy for the money! May 17, 2012
Superior Power Without Voltage Drop's I have 2 of these units and they are excellent and reliable. The primary one is used in my over the road tractor trailer operation. I have a 6 plug outlet surge protector used on only one of the converter plug-ins and can run my microwave, corded vacume cleaner, my notebook computer, printer, and TV all at the same time with no voltage drop or tripping the overload protector on the converter and at the same time plug in my 1/2 inch electric drill or reciprocating saw while outside working on the truck and no power loss at all. These units are highly recomended by me and seem to hold up to very high usage without working a sweat, great device. I would say i would buy another but these seem to be so reliable i'm not sure i will ever need to. You ROCK TRIPP-LITE. December 20, 2011

Answer:
The PV1800HF allows for AC appliances to be run from a properly sized 12V battery or automotive DC system.

The interverter will support 1800 watts continuous output power and 3600 watts instantaneous peak output power so before committing make sure the furnace isn'r drawing more than the 3600 watts at inrush.

In regards to wire gauge here's the link to the inverter owner's manual:

Page 2 in the upper right hand corner provide gauge info.

[FAQ-777] What is the difference between the HF series and FC series inverters?

Because they are able to support an overpower situation for an hour, FC series inverters are better suited for industrial or heavy-duty devices. HF series inverters are not capable of supporting overpower situations for more than 500 milliseconds.[Last Updated: Mar 23, 2009]
