Safeguard your computer, printer, scanner, router, modem and other small home electronics against dangerous surges, spikes and line noise.

  • 8 NEMA 5-15R outlets, including 3 for bulky transformers
  • 1440-joule surge protection rating
  • Filters out threatening EMI/RFI line noise
  • 15A resettable circuit breaker prevents dangerous overloads
  • 25 ft. AC power cord with right-angle NEMA 5-15P plug

Overview

Perfect for your home or office workstation, the TLP825 Protect It!® 8-Outlet Surge Protector features a surge protection rating of 1440 joules to defend your sensitive electronic components against even the strongest surges and spikes.

Because residential power outlets have three wires—hot line (H), neutral (N) and ground (G)—the TLP825 protects all three, covering the two protection modes: full normal mode (H-N) and common mode (N-G/H-G). It also filters out electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) that can disrupt your electronics and inflict hardware damage or data loss.

Your devices plug into eight NEMA 5-15R outlets, three of which are widely spaced to accept bulky transformers without blocking adjacent outlets. Sliding safety covers block accidental contact with unused outlets. An integrated 15A circuit breaker protects all outlets and shuts down connected equipment in case of overload. The lighted on/off switch provides one-touch control over connected equipment. Diagnostic LEDs confirm your wall outlet is properly grounded and your connected equipment is protected.

The extra-long 25-foot (7.6-meter) AC power cord gives you flexibility to reach distant outlets, while its right-angle NEMA 5-15P plug allows furniture and equipment to be moved flush against the wall to save space in your workstation. Keyhole slots incorporated into the bottom panel provide convenient wall or desk mounting options for the light gray plastic housing.

Questions & Answers

A surge protector will protect your electronics by acting as an “electrical sponge” by clamping down on spikes, “soaking them up” and converting the excess energy into heat, thus preventing the spikes from passing through the surge protector into the sensitive electronic devices and damaging them. As with any “sponge” a surge protector has a limited absorption capacity. Once that capacity is reached, the unit is no longer able to protect and must be replaced.

When a surge protector has been compromised (due to a single event like a lightning strike or over a series of spikes and surges), many surge protectors will use an audible or LED alert only. If these alerts are missed, your equipment will receive unprotected power without your knowledge. When a surge protector with automatic shutoff has its protection compromised, it will prevent power from reaching connected equipment entirely. This both protects the equipment and provides a timely and clear indicator that a new surge protector is needed.
