Overview

The BHDBT-R-SI HDBaseT Class B (HDBaseT-Lite) HDMI over Cat5e/6/6a Extender Receiver works in tandem with the Tripp Lite BHDBT-Series matrix transmitter in your HDBaseT Class B installation to extend uncompressed HDMI video and audio, RS-232 serial and IR remote control signals.

Using a single Cat5e/6/6a cable, the BHDBT-R-SI can extend an HD 1920 x 1080 (1080p) @ 60Hz signal up to 230-ft. (70.1 m) or an Ultra High Definition (UHD) 4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160 (4K x 2K) @ 30Hz video signal up to 130-ft. (39.62 m). To further extend and expand your installation, you can insert up to five BHDBT-TR-SI Extender Transceivers between the receiver and transmitter for a total range up to 780-ft. (237.74 m) (4K x 2K @ 30Hz) or 1,380-ft. (420.62 m) (1080p @ 60Hz) with a monitor connected to each transceiver.

You can control RS-232 serial devices, such as touchscreen displays or scanners, at baud rates up to 115 Kbps. The 2-way IR Remote Control feature (@ 39 KHz) lets you control your Blu-ray player using its remote when at the remote monitor and vice versa. The monitor connects to the rear locking HDMI port (ideal for use with Tripp Lite's P569-006-LOCK High-Speed HDMI cables with locking connectors) that prevents the cable from coming loose or undone, ensuring an intact signal.

The BHDBT-R-SI supports 7.1-channel surround sound, DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD audio, as well as 3D video, EDID and HDCP. Included mounting hardware lets you attach the receiver to a wall, rack or pole. Sets up quickly with no software to download or install.

Questions & Answers

The technology was developed to work with the most basic LAN infrastructure, namely Cat5e cables, and indeed there are many HDBaseT projects running on this cable. Having said that, feedback from installers and integrators determined that best practices is to use Cat6 cable in HDBaseT installations, for better performance and error-free transmission.

Unlike other HD distribution technologies currently available, HDBaseT is the only technology that enables long-reach wired connectivity for up to 100 meters (328 feet) for uncompressed ultra-HD multimedia content and up to 100 watts of charging power via a single cable. HDBaseT is optimized for video applications and can connect all HDBaseT-enabled home entertainment devices by providing the 5Play convergence. Other existing solutions may require a specific cable and/or new proprietary connectors while HDBaseT utilizes existing Ethernet infrastructure.

Class A is the original HDBaseT standard, supporting the 5Play feature set: ultra-high-definition audio & video, controls, Ethernet, USB and power, over a single 100m/328 ft LAN cable. Class B was created to provide a more cost-effective solution for industry applications, seeking selected HDBaseT functionality at shorter distances. Class B support transmission distances of up to 70m/230ft, and does not support Ethernet functionality.

Need more help? Contact Technical Support
No. Not every HDBaseT product (transmitter, receiver or transceiver) has the same feature set or the same transmission capabilities, even if they meet the same standard. Always check specific products to determine compatibility with the types of signals you need to transmit and the distance requirements of your installation. For example, HDBaseT Class B solutions lack Ethernet functionality and transmit over shorter distances than products that meet the original standard.
