Overview

Premium protection for essential network workstations, telecom systems, point-of-sale equipment and audio/video systems, the IBAR12 Isobar® 12-Outlet Surge Protector features a network-grade surge protection rating of 3840 joules to defend your sensitive electronics against even the strongest surges and spikes. In fact, Tripp Lite will repair or replace any connected equipment damaged by surges, including direct lightning strikes, up to $25,000 for life (valid in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico only).

The IBAR12 features 12 total outlets—two on the front and 10 on the rear—which are arranged in two exclusive isolated filter banks that prevent equipment connected to one bank from interfering with equipment connected to the other. These internal barriers also prevent disruptive line noise from causing A/V distortion, computer lock-ups, data errors and similar problems. Large toroidal chokes, ferrite rod-core inductors, HF/VHF capacitors and multiple layers of metal oxide varistors remove EMI/RFI interference and prevent system crashes, reboots and performance problems.

Because residential power outlets have three wires—hot line (H), neutral (N) and ground (G)—the IBAR12 protects all three, covering two protection modes: full normal mode (H-N) and common mode (N-G/H-G).

An integrated 15A circuit breaker protects all outlets and shuts down connected equipment in the event of an overload. A lighted on/off switch with locking cover provides one-touch control over connected components. Diagnostic LEDs show power, protection and line fault status at a glance. The IBAR12 mounts to a wall, under a counter or in 1U of rack space using the included hardware. A 15-foot power cord with NEMA 5-15P plug reaches distant outlets.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s a surge protector’s job to stop a voltage fluctuation or lightning strike from damaging the sensitive electronic equipment connected to it but it does so by sacrificing itself. Once a power surge has been blocked, your surge protector may no longer provide protection. Many of our surge protectors include an LED “protection” indicator that indicates that surge suppression are intact and providing protection against surges.
A surge protector will protect your electronics by acting as an “electrical sponge” by clamping down on spikes, “soaking them up” and converting the excess energy into heat, thus preventing the spikes from passing through the surge protector into the sensitive electronic devices and damaging them. As with any “sponge” a surge protector has a limited absorption capacity. Once that capacity is reached, the unit is no longer able to protect and must be replaced.
Please do not plug a surge protector into a UPS. This may void the UPS warranty. Tripp Lite UPS products have surge suppression. For additional surge protection, plug a Tripp Lite surge protector into a wall outlet and plug the UPS into the surge protector. Please remember that the equipment you want to run during a power loss must be plugged into only the battery side of the UPS. For additional outlets, plug a Tripp Lite power strip into the UPS. Do not overload the UPS.
Some Tripp Lite Audio/Video surge protectors are equipped with an audible alarm. This feature immediately alerts you to damaged internal protection circuitry. If the surge protector is the source of the alarm, your unit requires replacement. There are a few reasons why the audible alarm will sound: 1. A power surge occurred that damaged the unit's internal components. 2. In the event that the surge protector has been in service for a number of years, the internal protection components of the unit may have expired. 3. The unit may be faulty.
In the event that a power surge has occurred, and one or more devices connected to a Tripp Lite surge protector have been damaged, you may be eligible to file a claim under our Ultimate Lifetime Insurance program. However, to make an eligible claim regarding a Network surge protector, a Tripp Lite AC line surge protector must also be used in conjunction with it. Also, the surge protector can be replaced under warranty. Please see the link below for further details about Tripp Lite's Ultimate Lifetime Insurance Policy and the steps required to file a claim: https://www.tripplite.com/support/insurance-claims
