Overview

The SR42UB features a massive front-to-rear ventilation capacity that meets or exceeds server manufacturer requirements. Its integrated baying tabs make it easy to combine multiple enclosures in rows for data center applications. This enclosure is also compatible with hot-aisle/cold-aisle configurations.

The SR42UB houses 3000 lb of standard 19-inch rack equipment in 42U. Its front and rear pairs of vertical rails have square mounting holes that are adjustable in quarter-inch increments from 4 to 37 inches. Adjustment is quick and an easy-view depth index ensures consistent rail placement without requiring time-consuming measurements. Each rack space within the enclosure is numbered for ready reference.

Two of the adjustable vertical mounting rails support toolless button-mount 0U installation of up to four compatible PDUs and cable managers. This feature makes it easier to route cabling to rack equipment and reduces cord clutter.

With its locking, reversible, removable front and rear doors, and locking, removable side panels, the SR42UB provides ultimate equipment safety. The side panels are half size for ease of removal and reinstallation. The split rear door design allows the enclosure to be placed closer to a wall. The SR42UB meets all requirements toward PCI DSS compliance.

The top panel of the SR42UB is vented to help remove warm air from the enclosure and draw in cool air by convection. The top panel includes ports for cable routing, and can be quickly removed without tools. To facilitate cable access, the SR42UB is open-bottom.

All components of the SR42UB are grounded to the enclosure frame. Front and rear threaded grounding points are provided for connection to the facility earth ground. The removable front and rear doors feature quick-release ground wires.

To simplify deployment, the SR42UB comes with preinstalled casters that enable it to be easily maneuvered into the desired location, where it can be secured by adjusting the preinstalled levelers. Note: the casters are intended for minor position adjustments and are not designed for moving the enclosure over long distances.

The SR42UB comes with a 5-year product warranty. As part of the SmartRack family, the SR42UB is compatible with Tripp Lite’s extensive range of rackmount accessories, enabling you to customize your solution to meet any requirement.

Mounting slots are arranged in an industry-standard pattern compatible with a wide variety of accessories. Each rail can accommodate two vertical PDUs or cable managers side-by-side (four items per enclosure).
  • Enclosure includes mounting hardware of 50 pieces of M6 cage nuts and 50 pieces of M6 screws
  • Tough textured powder coat finish resists conditions found in non-IT environments such as warehouses.
  • Massive front-to-rear ventilation capacity. 65+% open space in door perforation pattern meets or exceeds server manufacturer requirements.
  • Maximum usable internal depth of 37 inches/94 cm (front to rear rail).
  • Weight ratings of 3000 lb stationary and 2250 lb rolling.
  • Front door is locking, reversible and removable.
  • Rear doors are locking and reversible. Split rear door design reduces clearance requirements for service entry allowing the enclosure to be placed closer to a wall.
  • Locking removable side panels are 'half size' to make them smaller and lighter improving ease of installation and servicing. Two side panels per side (4 panels total). Side panels are keyed alike to the front and rear doors.
  • Built in baying tabs allow enclosures to be combined securely in rows. Center-to-center width can be set at 600mm or 24" to match standard data center floor tiles.
  • Leveling feet extend to allow enclosure to be positioned on uneven floors. Levelers are removable.
  • Compact design allows the enclosure to roll through standard height commercial doorways.
  • Convenient grounding system. All components are grounded to the enclosure frame which includes multiple connections for facility ground. Front and rear doors include quick-release ground wires.
  • Open bottom for cable access.
  • Top panel has generous cable access holes. Panel can be removed toollessly in seconds without having to disconnect cables first.
  • Included stabilizing brackets are used for shipment and can be reattached at the bottom of the enclosure frame on the inside or outside of the rack.
  • Meets all enclosure requirements towards PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) Compliance

Decent rack for the price. Feels very sturdy, not flimsy or cheap like some light weight cabinets that seems like they'll cave in. Pre-assembled and a good overall unit for the money. April 3, 2013
This is a great rack. We got one to replace an old 24U rack that was pretty beat up and starting to show it's age. This rack has plenty of space to run cables so that you can keep it nice and tidy to allow proper air flow. I would recommend this rack to anyone looking for a rack. March 29, 2013
Lots of features for a great price I honestly wasn't too sure of what to expect when I ordered this. It looked like it had a lot of good ideas, but pictures only told so much. I was pleasantly surprised when we received it. It came fully assembled apart from the doors being packed inside it. When I started using it, I immediately appreciated the extra depth over our old rack, which provided plenty of room for cabling. Each U is marked which has made installing rails a much simpler task. The best part was when I started to install our PDU's, which were made by someone else. They had two standoffs on the rear for rack mounting, but I was very happy to see they worked perfectly with this rack. The price was also very good. It came much cheaper than several others I looked at, as well as some others we have on site. The SR42UB is what I'll be sticking to. October 19, 2012
VERY! well designed. The unit just arrived and unpacked. The design is clean and every detail has been thought through. The only issue found was rubbing by cardboard packaging on the side panels during shipping has abraded the paint. October 4, 2012
