Good product. Works as described. Well, I don't think I've needed the surge protection yet (knock on wood) but I do use the remote feature. I like that it uses RF instead of IR so you don't have to be in the line of sight. I use the remove from about 30 feet away and it works fine. I use it to turn on the lights in my room since the power strip is tucked into the corner behind some guitars and other things. February 12, 2013

I've decided to purchase a pair of these, in an attempt to teach my children cooperation when playing networked games..

each will get the remote control to the others PC strip.

is each remote linked only to it's own strip?

or will one remote shutdown both (in which case, I'll buy two different manufacturers products)

Thank you for your inquiry. The remotes are paired to the surge suppressor that it comes with. It will not control the other TLP66RCG.

Disable remote

I have a TLP66RCG. Is there a way to disable the remote feature and have all the outlets on the surge protector available for normal use? I don't want to use the remote feature any longer and want to be able to use the remote outlets as normal outlets.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The best way to accomplish this is to turn the remote outlets on and take the batteries out of the remote so it can't be used to turn those outlets off. The remote outlets will be on all the time and therefore should function the same as the regular outlets on the surge suppressor.

I purchased one of these from Tripp-Lite and a second one from Amazon. Unfortunately, both remotes are operating on the same channel. I see a number on the back of each remote, "RC-05." Is this the number that tells me which channel the remote is set to? In this case, is it 05?

Answer:
The TLP66RCG is assigned one of six unique channels. Your unit’s channel is listed on the retail carton box, the back of the surge suppressor and the back of the remote control. When multiple units are used in close proximity, different channel devices should be used to avoid interference. If you have purchased two units with the same channel, they must be placed at least 100 feet apart to prevent one remote from controlling both units. There is no user-selectable option to change the unit’s channel.

Answer:
The TLP66RCG remote only controls the 4 remote outlets. It will only turn the power from those outlets on or off. It has no control over the devices plugged into the remote outlets.
