For more than 20 years, America's leading companies have trusted Tripp Lite's Isobar Premium surge and noise protectors to protect sensitive computer, networking and telecom equipment. With more than 18 million satisfied customers, the Isobar remains the world's #1 selling premium surge protector. Loaded with a generous combination of high quality components, near indestructible all-metal case and unique noise filtration system, the Isobar offers the highest level of protection attainable in a multi-outlet strip. Robust surge suppression circuits with sine-wave tracking offer extreme levels of protection against the heaviest surge conditions exceeding IEEE 587 category A & B specifications and reducing 6,000V test surges to harmless levels under 35 volts. Isobar's unique protection system combines large toroidal chokes, ferrite rod-core inductors, HF/VHF capacitors and multiple layers of metal oxide varistors into exclusive isolated filter banks that remove EMI/RFI interference, even noise generated by other pieces of connected equipment. ISOBAR8ULTRA offers 8 outlets arranged in four filter banks to prevent system crashes, reboots and performance problems common as noisy system peripherals are powered off and on. Surge suppression rated at 3840 joules/97,000 amps offers network-grade protection. Widely spaced NEMA 5-15 outlets accommodate up to 4 large transformer plugs without blocking outlets. Diagnostic LEDs confirm power availability, line fault and protection status. Includes 12 foot AC line cord with space-saving angled input plug, keyhole mounting tabs and a set of 4 child safety covers.

Worth every penny I suffered one of the worst electrical malfunctions a person can have, a broken neutral line coming into the house from the transformer. I had purchased the Isobar8ultra for my expensive ham radio and computer gear. The main reason for my purchase was to eliminate line noise on the radio gear, not something you find on cheap surge protectors. After the surge from the open neutral some of the cheap plastic surge suppressors that I had melted, it was nothing short of a miracle that my house didn't burn down from the surge. Unfortunately the Isobar was destroyed, but it did protect my expensive gear, and all of the plastic protectors in my house will be replaced with metal cased Isobars. I wish I could post a picture of the Isobar and a plastic surge strip to show the difference, I think others would think twice about using the plastic strips. July 1, 2014
Great Product I have used this model previously at work and purchased this one for home use. It has protected sensitive equipment from brownouts and surges. I do recommend this product if you do not need your equipment to continue working during a blackout. October 11, 2013
This product does as it is advertised. Easy to use and plug into. It does the job and I like that your equipment is plugged in and it just does its quiet job. Really a nice product as compared to what we used to have. Will probably only use this product from now on. September 17, 2013
A great product This has safe my equipment many times from generator surges. Well worth the money and cost September 16, 2013

Answer:
It is 14 guage. The line cord is labeled: (UL) SUT E92770 VW-1 105'C 14AWGX32 KAB CSA TYPE SUT LL58352 14AWGX3C FT 2 . This tells you that it is a grounded 14 guage cord as well as temp rating and number of strands wound per wire.

I took a look inside - it looks like either 12 or 10, probably 12. The wire looks to be about 2mm in diameter.

Why is my ISOBAR8 turning itself off?

I have been using this to power my laptop and a 1500 watt space heater. After a few hours of use the red power switch turns off. Is this a problem with my space heater, the isobar8 or am I just drawing to much current? The ISOBAR does make a buzzing sound when the heater is turned on.

Answer:
The ISOBAR8 will support a max. draw of 1440 watts. As the space heater is 1500 watts max. and the laptop is about 120 watts, at 1620 watts the surge suppressor is being overloaded and tripping the breaker.

Please know we have various other products in our offering that will support a full 15 amps/1800 watts and will work with your 1620 watt draw.
