Overview

The SNMPWEBCARD turns a SmartPro or SmartOnline UPS with an expansion slot into a device you can manage on your network. By inserting the SNMPWEBCARD into the slot and using the SNMP network management platform, PowerAlert Console Launcher, SSH or Telnet, you can monitor and control the UPS and data in your server room, data center or network closet.
Keep an eye on site electrical data, UPS self-test logs and logged power events, such as blackouts, brownouts and over-voltages. You can even remotely reboot locked network equipment without disrupting power to other devices when using the SNMPWEBCARD with controllable outlets or remotely switchable outlets available on select Tripp Lite UPS systems. You can also use the SNMPWEBCARD to copy the configuration of a networked UPS and transfer it to another device.
Two-tier access allows two people to log in and monitor or control the UPS, while more than two can simultaneously view activity. If an electrical or UPS problem occurs on-site, you’ll be notified immediately via email, SMS or SNMP trap. Real-time clock support maintains current day and date even after a UPS shutdown. NTP (Network Time Protocol) support enables automatic updates to the real-time clock from an NTP server.
Multiple protocols are supported, including IPv4*, IPv6*, SMTP, SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, SNMPv3, Telnet, SSH, FTP, DHCP, BOOTP and SCP. DHCP/Manual configuration support enables network settings to be assigned automatically or manually.

*For HTTP and HTTPS support, we recommend the WEBCARDLX that has a Java-free HTML5 web browser interface that is fully compatible with modern desktop and mobile browsers.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Navigate web browser to the card’s IP address. 2. Click on Settings => Network => Syslog tab. 3. Select Enabled in the Enable Syslog pull down menu. 4. A user can add up to four Syslog server IP addresses. 5. Add the IP address of a Syslog server in the IP fields. 6. Add the Syslog port that will be used to send Syslog messages in the “Port” field. Syslog messages are typically sent on UDP port number 514. 7. Click on the Save Changes button to apply the settings. After the Syslog server IP addresses have been added, the SNMPWEBCARD will begin sending Syslog messages to the IP addresses when a event occurs to the UPS or PDU.
Follow the steps below to delete Dat files for SNMPWEBCARD (firmware version 5x or earlier): 1. Access the SNMPWEBCARD's administrative page by entering https://ip_address/admim.htm in the address field of the web browser. Replace ip_address with the actual IP address of the card. 2. Click on the Delete All Data Files button. 3. The card will reboot. 4. After the card completes its reboot, access it through a web browser.
To reset the SNMPWEBCARD to the default values, follow these steps: 1. Connect the configuration cable to the SNMPWEBCARD and computer. 2. Open a terminal emulation program, like PuTTY or Tera Term, and configure with the following settings: Baud: 9600 Data: 8 bit Parity: None Stop bit: 1 Flow control: None 3. Press the Reset button or reseat the SNMPWEBCARD. 4. After the SNMPWEBCARD displays “Press any key within 5 seconds to change these settings,” press a keyboard key. 5. When asked “Press A to Accept the settings, or M to Modify?”, enter M to modify settings on the card. 6. Log in to the card using the root password that was configured (TrippLite is the default). 7. When asked “Reset configuration and root password to default values?”, enter Y. Note: If you previously changed the root password, this step will reset it to TrippLite. 8. When asked “Reset Operating System configuration (Advanced) [N]?”, press the Enter key on the keyboard to accept the default value. 9. The next question is “Obtain IPv4 settings automatically using DHCP for Ethernet interface?” The default Y or N depends on how the card was previously configured. To accept a DHCP address lease, type Y and press the Enter key. To configure a static IP address, Type N and press the Enter key. Note: If assigning a static IP address, only configure the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address. 10. Respond to the remaining questions with default responses by pressing the Enter key. (You will not need to enter the Advanced Settings mode.) 11. SNMPWEBCARD will save the changes and reboot. During the reboot process, do not press any keys on the keyboard. Reboot may take approximately 2 to 5 minutes to complete. 12. Shortly after the Starting Telnet on port 5214 text is displayed in the terminal emulator, both LEDs on the SNMPWEBCARD will illuminate. 13. The procedure is complete. You can now access your SNMPWEBCARD through Telnet/SSH, HTTP/HTTPS, or SNMP with its default credentials.
1. A reboot can be accomplished in a few ways: a. Remove the SNMPWEBCARD from the accessory slot (if applicable), and then re-seat the SNMPWEBCARD back into the accessory. This will restart the card. (Note: The SNMPWEBCARD can be re-seated while the connected load is running.) b. Using a small paper clip, press the reset button through the small hole on the face plate (below the RJ45 network port). This will restart the card. c. During the boot process, press any key. A prompt will appear for a username and password. Enter the username and password (see defaults below), and then type reboot. This will restart the card. 12.06.00xx SNMPWEBCARD: Enter the default username localadmin and the default password localadmin 12.04.00xx SNMPWEBCARD: Enter the default username admin and the default password admin 2. Both LEDs on the SNMPWEBCARD will illuminate. 3. The reboot procedure is complete. You can now access your SNMPWEBCARD through Telnet/SSH, HTTP/HTTPS, or SNMP with its default credentials.
Follow the instructions below to create a configuration file on an SNMPWEBCARD (firmware version 5X and earlier). The SNMPWEBCARD can maintain a copy of its current configuration as a backup in the event of system problems or to configure other SNMPWEBCARDs via FTP. 1. To generate a configuration file (paconfig.ini), navigate to the IP address of the SNMPWEBCARD using a web browser. 2. Configure the SNMPWEBCARD with the desired settings. This involves configuring and saving data (Contacts, Events, Actions and other settings) in the SNMPWEBCARD interface. 3. When all desired settings have been updated and saved, click the Settings menu button and the System submenu button to display the Settings > System page. 4. Click the ConfigFile tab. 5. Click the Write button. Note: When writing out a config file, it is not available until the green light on the card stops blinking. This may take several minutes for the configuration file to be present. 6. You will be prompted with a login screen, at which time you may enter administrator username and password. (admin/admin is the default) 7. Click the View button to open the file. 8. Save the file as paconfig.ini in the directory where the configuration file is to be stored.
