SRCOOL12K Self-Contained Air Conditioning Unit
SRCOOL12K & SRCOOLNET Air Conditioner with Remote Cooling Control Demo
Why Rack Cooling Efficiency Matters
Portable Cooling for IT Environments

Overview

The SRCOOL12K SmartRack 12,000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit pumps 12,000 BTU of cooling power into your IT environment to prevent shutdowns, malfunctions and failures caused by overheating or fluctuating temperatures. Part of the SRCOOL® line, this compact, portable unit is perfect for server rooms and other IT environments with heat-sensitive equipment in areas that facility air conditioning can’t reach.

The self-contained SRCOOL12K is capable of cooling a small room using its louvered vent. A built-in evaporator expels the condensed water through the directional exhaust duct, eliminating the need for a drain tube, drain pan or water collection tank.

You can also use the included flexible tube to aim the cold air precisely where it’s needed most, such as an overheated rack enclosure or an equipment hot spot. The SRCOOL12K also dehumidifies and filters the air, providing better air quality that can enhance equipment performance with little power consumption.

Designed for quick, simple installation, the SRCOOL12K rolls into place on durable built-in casters and plugs into a standard 15-amp outlet. It’s programmed to restart automatically after power failures, and you can set the built-in timer for unattended shutdown and startup.

By installing the optional SRCOOLNET remote management accessory(sold separately), you can also monitor temperatures, receive alerts, review logs and control settings from anywhere via SNMP, web browser, SSH or telnet.

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartRack 12 000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit - Small Server Rooms & Network Closets:

Set this up in a small IT closet. Does a fantastic job cooling, much better than any "consumer" grade unit would do. Easy to set up and very reliable. Moves a lot of air and provides a lot of cooling. Would certainly buy this again.

Great product!

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartRack 12 000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit - Small Server Rooms & Network Closets:

(2) units were purchased to cool a 15' x 15' server room and both units have been running for 2-1/2 years without issue. The hot air discharge can be vented above the ceiling tiles in a drop ceiling, the units do not create water, they are portable and can keep a consistent temperature at 67 degrees. The only required maintenance is cleaning the air filters each month. (2) additional units were purchased recently to cool training rooms 14' x 20' and 18' x 22' with (5) computers in each rack.

So far so good. Very powerful

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartRack 12 000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit - Small Server Rooms & Network Closets:

It may be too early to write this review, because its important to see how durable and how long this nice unit lasts. Its very easy to set up, it has a small footprint for a 1 ton unit, and it really does blow out powerful, cold air. So, thus far, i love it. It is supposed to be able to run 24x7 inside computer server rooms all day and night. I dont run it at night at all for my purposes, as im using it to just cool a peice of equipment only during the day, as we shut the equipment off all night. So, im expecting for this unit to last a long time, and it should be well built. I love that it doesnt need a water tray to be emptied, or drainage system to get rid of the condensation and evaporation. It is a self contained unit. Thats great. Its a quality looking machine, so i feel comfortable putting it anywhere. Ive read almost all the reviews on this portable AC, from different sites, and it mainly got good reviews. However, the one major complaint was that when it was run 24x7, 365 days per year, it dies after about 10 months. AC compressors and units arent designed to run all day and night. So, i hope it last a long time, and is built strong enough to last several years. In the small amount of negative reviews that i read, the company was great to deal with, and if it died within the one year warranty, they had no problem sending the customer a brand new unit. I have many other portable ac units that i use for several of my businesses that run hot equipment all day. And, in the first month, this AC seems to be the most powerful cold air portable AC that i have, compared to my other units. I have some other 1 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1/2 ton units, and the blower seems to be more powerful than my others, and the digital buttons are very easy to use. So far after a month of rigorous use, it seems to be a well built, great unit.

Worst portable cooler we've ever used

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartRack 12 000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit - Small Server Rooms & Network Closets:

When they work, they're great. We're now on our THIRD unit in less than 2 years, and it's refusing to work now. Our first unit died within 3 months. The replacement they sent was DOA. The replacement for the replacement lasted about 8 months.

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartRack 12 000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit - Small Server Rooms & Network Closets:

I have used a SRCOOL12K unit in my server room for the past 5 years. I just bought a new one and WOW! I really liked my 5 year old unit but really love the new version! Quit, efficient, easy to operate! I don't mean to geek out about it but I have over $150K worth of equipment in the room so this unit serves a very important purpose.

Just what we needed!

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartRack 12 000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit - Small Server Rooms & Network Closets:

It seems like we have the air conditioning go out about once a month and it usually takes two days or longer to get it working again. This Tripp-Lite Portable Air Conditioning keeps my computer room temperature where it needs to be and saves the servers! It's easy to use and operate. I now leave it running all weekend when I am not here to monitor the temp in the computer room. I HIGHLY recommend this unit and I wish I had gotten it two years ago!

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartRack 12 000 BTU 120V Portable Air Conditioning Unit - Small Server Rooms & Network Closets:

We wish we purchased this sooner.... We invested a lot of time and effort on modifying our HVAC to draw air from our server closet. This unit works very well and helps heat the office in the winter and we have the exhaust discharged outside for the summer.
