SMART1300LCDT LCD Tower UPS System

Overview

The SMART1300LCDT SmartPro LCD 120V, 1300VA/720W Line-Interactive Uninterruptible Power Supply provides battery backup and AC power protection against blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise that can damage electronics or destroy data. Ideal for backing up your desktop computer or audio/visual components, this line-interactive UPS switches to battery backup mode in milliseconds to keep your connected equipment running long enough to save files and shut down safely with no data loss.

While all eight NEMA 5-15R outlets protect against surges, four outlets also provide up to 64 minutes of UPS battery support for a basic desktop PC and LCD monitor and up to 10 minutes of support at half load (360W).

Automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects undervoltages as low as 92V and overvoltages as high as 150V without using any battery power. EMI/RFI noise filtering improves your equipment’s performance and prevents damage. A 650-joule surge suppression rating protects your equipment from harmful power surges.

NEMA 5-15P plug with 6-foot cord connects to any NEMA 5-15R socket. Large LCD screen shows real-time input voltage, overload, AVR, remaining battery runtime and battery statuses at a glance. Alarm sounds to indicate power loss or low battery. With Tripp Lite’s free PowerAlert software (available via free web download), the SMART1300LCDT enables safe unattended system shutdown and file saves in case of a prolonged power failure.

I use this as a battery backup for my long arm quilting machine. It shows me how much battery time is left if I lose power and I like the different screens of information that's available for the input and output of power. It is a great investment!

blocks my cable internet

By Disappointed in the desert

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartPro LCD 120V 1300VA 720W Line-Interactive UPS AVR Tower LCD USB 8 Outlets:

Works great as a surge protector/UPS but the cable loop through blocked several channels on my cable internet. We were experiencing download speeds of less than 100kb/s with uploads 10 times that. Our cable tech showed us the data channels that were being blocked by this system. Useless for protecting modern data cables. Also, the manual was obviously intended for non North American users with line voltages in the 220 range. I would recommend to a friend who did not have cable internet.

Excellent, Strong Supply

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartPro LCD 120V 1300VA 720W Line-Interactive UPS AVR Tower LCD USB 8 Outlets:

As this is for "Emergency" use, simply to give enough power until shutdown, I have 3 towers and one monitor hooked up to the backup side. Also, several other "surge protection only" items are plugged in. Seems to be operating in a flawless manner.

I would buy this product again and probably will

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartPro LCD 120V 1300VA 720W Line-Interactive UPS AVR Tower LCD USB 8 Outlets:

I am using this UPS to back up and protect my main desktop and the cable modem and wireless router, the latter two being frequent failure points here in the desert. I received this product for Christmas. It was in service the next day. The ONLY problem I noticed was that the manual was apparently written for an area with 220 VAC service. This was disconcerting but close examination of the box showed it was indeed North American standard. This cost you a star Tripp-Lite.

Excellent product. Never had a problem with Tripp-Lite products. I bought this over several other choices that I saw that were cheaper but were considered inferior to this particular device.

I purchased this product to protect my office computers in the event of a power outage. Thankfully I have not had an power issues, however if I did I have complete Peace of Mind that my Tripp-Lite will work without any issues. It was very easy to setup and is so quite that you never even are aware that it is running and keeping my technology and work safe!

I had previously not given this product a bad review because I was experiencing intermittent shutdowns due to the UPS logic circuits. I have talked with Tech Support since then and they have accurately diagnosed the problem and have taken care of it. Thanks to Jose from Tripplite Tech Support the problem has been taken resolved, professionally and quickly. I think his supervisor should put a little something extra into his Christmas stocking this year. Because of the way my issue was handled and how quickly I was able to talk to someone in Tech Support I have changed my review to would recommend to a friend.

    UPS Shutdowns System Unexpectedly

    By swann2001

    About Me Quality Oriented

    Pros

    • Quiet Operation

    Cons

    • Hard To Set Up
    • Unreliable Performance

Comments about Tripp Lite SmartPro LCD 120V 1300VA 720W Line-Interactive UPS AVR Tower LCD USB 8 Outlets:

I have been having problems with my UPS almost from day one and it relates to my computer shutting down unexpectedly at different times. The computer may run fine for a day or two or it may only be a couple hours before the screen goes black and the computer acts like it is trying to restart but never does. The lights flash for a second and then stops and does this continuously until I pull the plug from the power supply in the back of the computer. I have contacted Tripplite many times about this but they have never responded. Has anyone else had a similar issue that was resolved. A couple times the UPS did it's work with a few second of power interruption for which I was happy. But not happy with my system shutting down without warning, it just goes black and after unplugging the power supply for about 15 to 30 minutes it comes back on. In fact it just happened before writing this.

I would recommend this UPS if it wasn't for this problem, but I would maybe go for the higher end model if money wasn't an object. I thought this would work for me as I only occasionally need it, usually during a storm where power interruption happens but only for a few seconds, but without a UPS those seconds can wreck havoc.

    Frequently Asked Questions

The SMART1300LCDT does not provide a pure sine wave. It provides a PWM sine wave.

Follow the instructions below to perform a discharge reset for Omni and Smart LCDT UPS systems:
    1. Press and hold the On/Off button on the front panel and release the button after the UPS emits a single beep. The UPS will now be powered off; the LCD screen will show only input voltage and battery capacity and there will be no AC output from the Battery-Backup/Surge-Protected outlets.
    2. Disconnect the UPS from its AC input source. Verify the UPS is powered off by checking to make sure that the LCD screen is not lit and that the UPS is not passing power from the Battery-Backup/Surge-Protected outlets and the Surge-Protected-Only outlets.
    3. Remove the screw at the bottom of the front panel. Carefully pry the front panel away from the UPS. Do not disconnect the ribbon cables. Remove the battery support bar.
    4. Tilt the UPS to allow the battery to partially slide away from the UPS, exposing the battery terminals. Locate the red and black battery cables connected to the battery. Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect one of the UPS DC input cables, either the red or black cable, from the battery. Make sure that the cable does not come in contact with the opposite battery terminal.
    5. Press and hold the On/Off button on the front panel for 10 seconds and then release it.
    6. Reconnect the red or black UPS DC input cable to the terminal from which it was disconnected. Note: There will be a slight arc when reconnecting the input cable.
    7. Reinstall the battery support bar and the front panel.
    8. Connect the UPS to a known working AC power source. The Surge-Protected-Only outlets will begin to pass power. The Input icon and voltage, along with the Battery Capacity icon, will illuminate on the LCD screen.
    9. To power on the unit, press and hold the On/Off button and release it after the UPS emits a single beep. The On-line icon will illuminate along with the Output icon and voltage. The UPS will begin passing power from the Battery-Backup/Surge-Protected outlets.
