Overview

The APS2448UL 2400W PowerVerter APS 48VDC 120V Inverter/Charger is a reliable power source for a wide variety of equipment ranging from power tools and pumps to portable lighting and computer equipment in heavy-load conditions. With no fumes, fuel or excess noise, it’s an excellent alternative to generator power. And it’s tested to meet UL (U.S.) and CSA (Canada) safety standards.

The DC-to-AC inverter features an automatic line-to-battery transfer switch and integrated charging system that allow it to work as an extended-run UPS, standalone AC power source or vehicle inverter. It delivers 2400W of continuous power, 3600W up to one hour, or 4800W of peak power up to 10 seconds during equipment startup or cycling. An automatic overload detector, cooling fan and resettable AC circuit breakers protect the unit from damage.

Designed for easy installation in RVs, commercial and fleet vehicles, emergency vehicles and construction equipment, the APS2448UL converts stored power from any 48V battery or automotive DC source to safe, stable, computer-grade AC power for unlimited runtime.

When hardwired to an external 120V AC source, the unit keeps the user-supplied battery charged via a three-stage 15A charging system while simultaneously delivering AC power to connected equipment. When used as a UPS, the APS2448UL responds to blackouts and brownouts with an automatic, instantaneous transfer to battery-derived AC output.

I have two of these units at my house, I have them connected to a large stack gel batteries. They are back up for the freezer and furnace and a few other things. I have them running in UPS mode and so far I have not had a single problem with either unit. I never can tell when they switch over to battery except for the other lights go out. I really like the 48 volt DC version because they only pull 50 amps at full load but the way I have them set up they take about 18 amps DC as a pair when everything is on to keep things working when the power is out, I am lightly loading them. You never know when you might need to add something. They are very easy to set up the dip switches for different modes which I really like as an option. My only complaint, the charge voltage for gel batteries is about 55 Volts, it keeps the batteries really full but shortens their life considerably. I have an external charger running 53.5 volts, I get years out of the batteries and the run time is not noticeably less and I buy fewer batteries. I do recommend having a good ground at the inverter and surge protection on the AC Mains.

Frequently Asked Questions

The APS2012 will run off generator power as long as the output of the generator meets the input requirements for that unit. That requirement is a nominal 120vac at 60hz.

A pure sine wave inverter produces a smooth, sinusoidal AC output with a low level of distortion for better performance. A PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) Wave inverter produces a multi-step AC output that approximates a sinusoidal AC output with a higher level of distortion.
